The infamous tram ride to the top of Santa Teresa hill was really fun, with all the shrieking and clanking and sharp turning of this old vehicle. And voila – we finally made it to this “most picturesque and bohemian” of neighborhoods. And it is really picturesque – the little streets are swirling around like in the old part of San Francisco. And it is or at least was really bohemian with all the beginning of the 20th century literary parties and what not. But on Monday morning, when we were there, streets were deserted and pretty much everything was closed. Actually, when we made our second failed attempt to visit it yesterday (Sunday), the famous restaurant that was recommended to us, closed at 6PM… I guess, it’s more of a Thursday night – Saturday night place. Maybe I’ll re-visit it when back to Rio.
But despite the fact that we couldn’t discover any particular bohemian buzz in Santa Teresa, we had a lovely walk around and had our farewell lunch at a great Asian place with a terrace, where we finally saw… the infamous marmosets! They are so cute!
Another cab ride back to our hotel (Rio is so huge and their subway system is sub-optimal) – this time to say good-bye to Dima and Tanya…
And then we were two…
