How to deal with the Brazilian Consulate in NYC

1. Come to the consulate around 9.30, that way by the time they open at 10AM you may have some advantage. They close at noon, and have a daily quota...

2. Make sure you have all the documents:
- visa application filled out online and printed out;
- money order from... a postal office (very important - they don't accept any other form of payment) - btw you can only pay cash for the money order (which I learnt today the hard way, of course); check the fees here
- a ticket to Brazil - or apparently any other country - they didn't flinch at my ticket to Mexico:); - one passport photo.

3. Plan to spend about 1.30 hr there.

4. Visa takes 5 days to process.

Good luck!
